Meet the Team
Berklee’s housing and residential life team comprises full-time professional staff members who are dedicated to assisting students with questions and concerns; organizing and supporting residence hall activities; monitoring the safety, security, and maintenance of the buildings; and working to maintain thriving communities that are safe and educational.
Residential Education Team
Director of Residential Education
Ryan Anderson has served as director of residential education at Berklee since October 2016. In this role, he is responsible for direct supervision and oversight of the staff in the residence halls in addition to setting the strategic direction of the residential education program, which includes the continued development of Berklee's residential curriculum and Living Learning Community (LLC) programs. His favorite thing about being at Berklee is getting to work with the incredibly talented student staff and attend their performances. Previous roles include assistant director of residential life at Northeastern University in Boston; assistant director for learning communities and assessment at American University in Washington, D.C.; and coordinator of student development at California Polytechnic State University in San Luis Obispo, California. He earned his bachelor's degree in finance and his master's degree in higher education and student affairs administration from Indiana University in Bloomington, Indiana. Associate Director of Residential Education
Eric Crumrine serves as assistant director of residential education. He earned a bachelor's degree in English from Bowling Green State University and a master's degree in higher education and student affairs from the University of Connecticut. He began his career at Berklee while working at Boston Conservatory in July 2014. In his role, he oversees the Fenway housing, supervises the department's two graduate assistants, and has oversight of hiring and training for all student staff. Resident Director, 98 Hemenway Street
Cristina Flores has been at Berklee since June 2017. She earned a bachelor's degree in English with minors in anthropology and Latin American studies from the University of Florida in May 2015 and a Master of Arts in educational leadership with a focus on student affairs from the University of Central Florida in May 2017.
As the resident director of 98 Hemenway, her favorite part of working at Berklee is getting to interact with so many passionate students. In her role, she oversees the resident assistant team at 98 Hemenway as well as the overall structure and happenings of the building.
Outside of Berklee, she loves playing with her one-and-a-half-year-old rescue dog, Fenway, and exploring new shops and restaurants in Boston. She also works part time as a florist making fun floral arrangements. You can reach her at email@example.com.
Resident Director, 270 Commonwealth Avenue
Katie Schmitt is the resident director of the 270 Commonwealth Avenue residence hall and has been a staff member at Berklee since May 2016. She earned a bachelor's degree in women's studies from the University of Wisconsin, La Crosse, and a master's degree in college student personnel from Southern Illinois University, Carbondale. In the resident director role, she supervises the 270 resident assistant team, co-advises the hall council, and oversees the building. Resident Director, 160 Massachusetts Avenue
Robin Searcy is the resident director for the 160 Massachusetts Avenue residence hall. She earned a bachelor's degree in psychology from Valdosta State University and a master's degree in higher education administration from Florida State University. She has been a staff member at Berklee since May 2016, and her favorite thing about working at Berklee is seeing students fully immersed in their element. She finds their passion and talent energizing and enjoys helping build departmental efforts to help students. Resident Director, 150 Massachusetts Avenue
Bess Tracey has been at Berklee since June 2017. Prior to arriving at Berklee, she earned a Master of Education in student development in higher education from the University of Maine while working as an assistant community coordinator for the Office of Residence Life. She also has a Bachelor of Arts in history and secondary education from Catholic University of America.
She oversees the 150 residence hall and supervises the resident assistants. She oversees all of their program planning efforts, which are done in an effort to get to know students, help them connect to each other, and make them feel welcomed by and connected to Berklee. She is also available to students who need help, are having any concerns, want to be better connected, or just need to talk.

Cheryl Goodney is one of two graduate assistants working in the Office of Housing and Residential Life. She earned her Bachelor of Arts in English with a minor in educational studies from Salem State University and is working towards her Master of Education in higher education in student affairs from Salem State University. She has been at Berklee since August 2017 and enjoys the community within the residence halls. In her day-to-day work, she works to develop regular educational and professional development for the resident assistant team and serves on the resident assistant training and selection committee. Alberto Ponce has been at Berklee since July 2017. He received a Bachelor of Arts in music breadth studies from California State University, Northridge, in May of 2017. He is currently a graduate student at Northeastern University, working to obtain a Master of Education in higher education administration. As one of two graduate assistants in the Office of Housing and Residential Life, he works alongside Cheryl Goodney on providing educational and professional development for the resident assistant student staff. He also serves on the resident assistant training and selection committee with the residential education team. He loves seeing the passion for the arts that Berklee students have and sharing the energy and enthusiasm with them as a former undergraduate music major. Residential and Housing Operations Team
Director of Residential and Housing Operations
Rosemary Dowling, director of residential and housing operations, has been at Berklee for almost seven years. While not a musician, they consider themself an avid consumer of music, specifically musical theater. Prior to Berklee, they completed a Bachelor of Science in movement science, sport, and leisure studies, as well as a Master of Public Administration at Westfield State University. In this role, they oversee the behind-the-scenes aspects of housing such as room assignments, housing applications, facilities management, and all other aspects of housing occupancy. Derek Dion has been at Berklee since September 2013. Before transitioning into his current role, he began as the front desk evening supervisor to a team of work-study students in the old 150 Massachusetts Avenue lobby. He had that position for a year and a half before transitioning to the daytime supervisor. After another year as the main supervisor of the front desk and its staff, he was hired as the housing office manager in 2015. When the College merged with the Conservatory, he was named housing coordinator for the newly combined institution.
In his current role, he assists the director in the management of housing operations, including planning, administration, and oversight of the housing application process, assignments, room selection, and opening and closing procedures throughout the calendar year. Outside of Berklee, he's a huge sports fan, especially of hockey and the English Premier League. He play hockeys to this day and once competed against Berklee's old club hockey team. He has lived in or around Boston his whole life and has six sisters. He's a big comic book fan, especially of Batman; his favorite band is Queen; and his favorite singer is Frankie Valli. Jeremy Vaughan is the administrative assistant for residential and campus life. Prior to coming to Berklee, he completed his Bachelor of Music in composition at Shenandoah Conservatory and his Master of Music in composition at Boston Conservatory.
