The general counsel is responsible for the management of legal work arising from the activities of Berklee’s programs and associated activities. The general counsel performs a wide variety of legal services, including the following:
- Providing legal advice and representation to Berklee and its officers and employees while acting on Berklee’s behalf
- Advising Berklee officials on regulatory compliance and other legal issues
- Representing Berklee in litigation before federal and state courts and administrative agencies
- Advising on issues involving risk management
- Assisting with policy development
- Preparing and negotiating contracts between Berklee and other entities
- Representing Berklee in commercial transactions
- Establishing relationships with and supervising the activities of outside counsel
