Nourished By Time is a Baltimore-based songwriter/producer with a unique blend of new wave, R&B, and dance, explores themes of existentialism, love, consumerism, and their relationship with labor.

The project was initially created in Los Angeles (in Koreatown, where the artist used to live) at the end of 2019. After two years of failure and artistic differences with a creative partner, the impulsive artist abruptly left Los Angeles and drove solo across the country, back to his hometown of Baltimore. There, they would work odd jobs, attempt to recover mentally, fall In love, get heartbroken, and obsessively write songs under Nourished By Time. In 2022, the artist had their first label release with the 2 song Erotic Probiotic EP under the London indie label Scenic Route. This year, NBT joined 4AD's post punk band Dry Cleaning on a 20 stop tour of North America as well as a remix of their album track "Gary Ashby." Continuing to build his collaborative credentials, he's also featured on progressive electronic artist Yaeji's debut album, With A Hammer on XL Recordings. This was all before dropping his critically acclaimed album Erotic Probiotic 2, picked up by Pitchfork's Best New Music and featured on Best Of 2024 lists like Gorilla vs Bear (#1), Pitchfork (#5), The Guardian, The FADER, Paste, and more.

2024 has kicked off with the announcement of Nourished By Time signing to the iconic UK imprint XL Recordings, returning with his new EP, Catching Chickens, released on March 22 digitally and on 12" vinyl. Written between 2022-2023 in his home studio in Baltimore, Catching Chickens takes inspiration from the iconic scene in Rocky II where Rocky's trainer makes him chase and catch chickens as a test of agility. With tracks like "Hell of a Ride," in which Nourished By Time contemplates the fall of the American empire and late-stage capitalism loneliness, and "Had Ya Called," which deals with the frustrations of growing distance in friendships, Nourished By Time chronicles his own test of agility as he weaves through the motions of his newfound notability. Support comes from across The Face, Flaunt, Pitchfork, Hypebeast, Pigeons & Planes, Loud & Quiet, BBC 6 Music, and more.

urika’s bedroom hides in plain site, focused and alive. You hear the noise and hiss, cracking through the digital heat.

“It’s not quiet here, but at least there is understanding”, urika adds. After years of touring as a multi-instrumentalist (2070, St. Panther, Youth Lagoon) and producing for artists like LA outfit untitled (halo), Los Angeles transplant urika’s bedroom returns to his personal practice with debut single “Junkie." The self-produced track was mixed by Sonny DiPerri (DIIV, Animal Collective, Portugal. The Man), and sees distorted drums and static soaked guitars meeting sung and whispered vocals. A birdsong or a siren speaking sweetly through a wall of chaos, urika offers a clear and welcome respite from the noise of a shifting reality. The new track comes alongside a music video directed by urika’s bedroom & Jack Dione which simultaneously reveals their aesthetic—one less enamored with glorifying the mundane than with warping it, aggregating a rich, hyperreal landscape in which “Junkie” seamlessly cohabits. This mesmerizing blend of digitized realism sees provocation and raw emotion take precedence over the fashion-forward; inviting audiences into a thought-provoking and intimate artistic space. Though urika’s practice has extended to creative direction, modeling, and styling, music remains his sanctuary. urika cites the glitched-out guitar driven songs of Ecco2k's and off-kilter genius of Alex G's songwriting as vital entities in shaping his sonic identity, as well as finding creative kinship with forward-thinking artists like Yves Tumor, Oneohtrix Point Never, and Arca. Beginning with “Junkie,” urika’s bedroom unveils his latest trust fall—inviting audiences to bear witness to his living, breathing feedback loop as he channels his truths, experiences, and the beauty and complexity of life into sonic alchemy.
