The Bluegrass ensemble is designed for students to study, learn, and perform music and artists within the bluegrass idiom. Throughout this course students  not only play the music but learn and apply the characteristics of bluegrass-rooted music to their own compositions, arrangements, and performances. Students study  classic artists such as: the Foggy Mountain Boys, Bill Monroe, Earl Scruggs, Alison Krauss & Union Station, Doc Watson, and many more. This course emphasizes hearing and expressing musical ideas with stylistic integrity, as well as melodic, harmonic, and rhythmic accuracy.
