Sound Design Network (SDN)
Founded 2016
The club was founded to create a community of students who are interested in the aspect of sound design from synthesis, foley, field recording, effect manipulation, and more. The club covers the sound design from both film and interactive media, but recently it has gravitated towards the world of interactive media.
Berklee Sound Design Network is for students who are interested in sound design from synthesis, foley, field recording, effect manipulation, and more. The club also involves a lot of study in video game sound design and how the sound effects are implemented procedurally in the game.
Mission
Berklee SDN seeks to build up members' knowledge of sound design, especially in the fields of video games and film. With techniques such as foley, synthesis, field recording, and understanding the function of plug-in effects, the club strives to become the best sound designers possible.
Vision
With sound design being such a niche field amongst the Berklee student body, the club strives to make the understanding of sound design much more accessible and reach deeper topics than what is currently offered in Berklee courses.
Goals
Increase member count, grow social media presence, invite more industry professionals to speak at the sessions.
Additional Info
Many of the Berklee graduates who were active participants in SDN have moved into the video game industry, working at companies such as Respawn Entertainment, Bungie, Riot Games, Blizzard Entertainment, and more. Participating in SDN is a sure-fire way to get good connections!
