Provost Receives Distinguished Professional Achievement Award

Berklee provost and senior vice president for academic affairs, was honored at the 45th annual Jazz Seminar with a Kenneth P. Dietrich Distinguished Professional Achievement Award from the University of Pittsburgh's Dietrich School of Arts and Sciences.

Larry Simpson, Berklee provost and senior vice president for academic affairs, was honored at the 45th annual Jazz Seminar with a Kenneth P. Dietrich Distinguished Professional Achievement Award from the University of Pittsburgh's Dietrich School of Arts and Sciences. Simpson is a graduate of the Dietrich School of Arts and Sciences.

In his role at Berklee, Simpson is responsible for the college’s three academic divisions (Professional Performance, Professional Writing and Music Technology, and Professional Education), institutional research and assessment, graduate studies, concert operations, special programs, the library and learning resources, experiential learning, and faculty development. He also serves as the executive producer for the Berklee Beantown Jazz Festival. He currently serves as the board chair of the New England Foundation for the Arts (NEFA). Prior to coming to Berklee, he served as president of the Eastern Campus (12 years) and the Metropolitan Campus (one year) of the Cuyahoga Community College District in Cleveland, Ohio. He holds master of science and Ph.D. degrees in social psychology from the University of Pittsburgh.
