David Gross

Full Biography

David Gross is managing partner of Bain Capital and a founding member of the firm’s Asia business. He joined Bain Capital in 2000 and launched and managed the firm’s Tokyo office in 2006, helping to expand its presence across the region. Today, Bain Capital’s Asia platform encompasses private equity, private credit, special situations, life sciences, and technology.

Gross has led a number of prominent transactions in the region, including Kioxia (formerly Toshiba Memory Corporation), Genpact, Hero MotoCorp, Japan Wind Development, Macromill, Jupiter Shop Channel, Domino’s Pizza Japan, and Uniview Technologies. Earlier in his Bain Capital career, he was a member of the teams that helped establish the firm’s industrial and technology investment verticals.

Prior to Bain Capital, Gross was a consultant with Bain & Company from 1998 to 2000 and worked with NEC Corporation in Tokyo from 1992 to 1996. He earned an MBA from Harvard Business School, where he was a Baker Scholar, and a BS from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.

Gross joined the Berklee College of Music Board of Trustees in 2015 and remains active across a number of nonprofit and educational organizations. He serves on the Boston Children’s Hospital Trust Board, the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, and the University of Pennsylvania School of Arts and Sciences Board of Overseers, and on the advisory boards of the Kelly Writers House and the Center for the Advanced Study of India at the University of Pennsylvania. He is also a board member of Atalanta Bergamasca Calcio S.p.A.
