Jason Camelio

Assistant Vice President, Berklee Global

Jason Camelio has held a number of positions at Berklee since 1997, including his work in the offices of scholarships, student employment, international programs, global initiatives, and more. As the assistant vice president for Berklee Global, he played a key role in helping Berklee grow its engagements to more than 50 countries on six continents. He guided the expansion of the number and types of Berklee on the Road programs in more than 12 global locations, developed the Berklee Latino programs, and collaborated with Berklee Online and Berklee City Music® to design and deliver a dynamic model for contemporary music education in Latin America through the support of the Inter-American Development Bank.

New programs include the Emerging Artist Intensive with the Latin GRAMMY Cultural Foundation®, Berklee at the Gnaoua and World Music Festival in Morocco, and the Berklee in Nigeria: Tiwa Savage Intensive Music Program. He has cultivated a highly skilled and effective team focused on exploring, developing, and managing Berklee's partnerships around the world to discover talent and design opportunities for educational and cultural engagement for Berklee’s global community.

Camelio earned his Bachelor of Music from the University of North Florida's Great America Jazz Studies program and his graduate degree from Boston Conservatory/Berklee College of Music's cooperative Master of Music program. He serves on the advisory boards for Holland College School of the Performing Arts and Selkirk College. He works as a performer and coach for the Jazz at Lincoln Center Business Leadership Workshops.

In addition, Camelio is an active performing musician. As a trombonist, he has performed and recorded with artists such as Dweezil Zappa (Via Zammata’), Danilo Pérez (Panama Suite), Eguie Castrillo, Stephen Webber (Stylus Symphony), Mike Abene, Gilberto Santa Rosa, Aretha Franklin, among many others. He is the cofounder, leader, guitarist, and songwriter in the band DÚBH.
