“Nothing matters without nuances.” This quote from Coco Smith’s song, “Untermeyer Gardens,” encapsulates the complicated nature of life and music. Coco aims to be a genuine and inclusive artist who is not afraid to bring light to the gray areas. She is an indie/folk singer-songwriter from New York. When not writing new music or taking classes at Berklee College of Music, Coco is doing local Sofar gigs, house show gigs, and playing other local venues. She is currently working on her latest EP, which is in its recording stages right now. She will be going on an American Northeast tour over the summer. Coco’s song meanings largely have to do with love, as it plays an ever-present role in all of our lives, and is a human connector. With every new song, her writing abilities evolve, and she is now branching out into more indie/rock songs as opposed to indie/folk. Although this is the case, she will always take stock into her more folk roots.
