The Office of Community and Belonging cultivates a welcoming, engaged, and connected campus community where every member is empowered to contribute, learn, and succeed. Through education, collaboration, programming, and community engagement, we advance cultural competence, encourage cultural engagement, foster meaningful community dialogue, and strengthen campus belonging. By creating opportunities for learning, connection, and participation, we enhance the campus experience and support the success of all members of the Berklee community.

Vision

To be a collaborative partner that fosters connection, belonging, and meaningful engagement through campus-wide partnerships.

Focus Areas

  • Campus Belonging: Building an environment where every student, faculty, and staff member is valued, seen, and empowered to show up as their authentic self.

  • Cultural Engagement: Celebrating and engaging our rich, diverse backgrounds through collaborative programming, shared traditions, and active campus involvement.

  • Cultural Competence: Providing resources and learning opportunities to deepen our understanding of one another and build skills for communicating within and across cultural differences.

  • Community Dialogue: Creating open, constructive spaces for honest conversation, active listening, and bridge-building.

We advance these focus areas by:

  • Partnering with departments across campus to incorporate cultural competence, engagement, and belonging into existing initiatives, programs, and student engagement opportunities.

  • Engaging the Berklee community in meaningful dialogue that advances connection, strengthens community, and cultivates a greater sense of belonging through educational offerings and social programming.

  • Fostering a campus culture that empowers faculty, staff, and students to advocate for themselves, support one another, and strengthen community building across Berklee.
