The Mission of the Center for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion

Our mission is to foster a more diverse, inclusive, and equitable community where all of our members can reach their full potential. We acknowledge the inherent dignity and value of each person, and work toward establishing a community where all our members are free from discrimination, harassment, and sexual violence. We achieve our mission through the engagement and empowerment of all members of our community. We coordinate our efforts across the institution through education, programming, resource development and provision, and policy and process implementation.

What We Do

The Center for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (CDEI) houses Berklee’s Diversity and Inclusion team and Berklee’s Equity team. Both teams share space and regularly coordinate on general diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) programming, communications, and outreach efforts. The combined teams in the CDEI work closely with each other to coordinate and deliver the center’s signature programs and DEI educational sessions. Additionally, both teams offer specialized programming and services based on their specific areas of expertise.

Situated in the Division of Student Affairs and the Division of Academic Affairs, CDEI serves students, faculty, and staff, and it provides services, consultation, and leadership at the individual, programmatic, divisional, and institutional levels in service to Berklee’s diversity, equity, and inclusion goals.
