Charlie Hellman
Charlie Hellman is senior vice president and global head of music at Spotify. He oversees all global music functions, including editorial, artist and label partnerships, and licensing, as well as the platform’s music and royalty policies. Hellman also directs Spotify's suite of artist- and fan-facing products, which enable artists, labels, and publishers to grow and monetize their audiences.
A 15-year veteran of Spotify, Hellman joined the company in 2011 to found its US product team, where he developed many of the platform's foundational recommendation features. Over his tenure, he has been instrumental in shaping the industry’s digital landscape, notably through innovating the streaming freemium model, creating Spotify for Artists, and championing industry transparency through initiatives like the annual Loud & Clear report.
Prior to Spotify, Hellman led music products at LimeWire. He earned his BA in Communication with a minor in Music from the University of Pennsylvania.
In addition to his role at Berklee, he serves on the Board of Directors for Backline, a non-profit organization that connects music industry professionals and their families with mental health and wellness resources.
