Creating a Unified Mission, Vision, and Strategic Direction

Since the establishment of the Conservatory in 1867 and the College in 1945, Berklee has evolved into a global institution, boasting the world’s largest online music education provider, campuses in New York and Spain, and partner schools around the globe. Berklee's growth in scope, scale, and complexity underscores the need for a unified vision, mission, and strategic direction.

The Berklee community is engaging in a process to shape a shared mission, vision, and strategic direction to advance our institution’s goals and pave a transformative path forward for Berklee. Anchored in our fundamental values, this effort will respect the unique attributes of each learning environment while strengthening our identity as an innovative and collaborative force within the performing arts.

After an eight-month community engagement process, the Board of Trustees approved Berklee’s new unified mission and vision statements on April 26, 2024. These statements are informing the development of our strategic direction, which is currently underway.
