Monsieur Periné band leaders Catalina García and Nicolás Junca present a clinic on their catalog and Colombian music. Ask questions and learn from Latin Grammy Award–winning artists.

Monsieur Periné, based in Bogotá, Colombia, is a musical ensemble with an Afro-Colombian sound that mixes Latin and European flavors. Lead singer García sings in a mixture of Spanish, French, English, and Portuguese. Other members include Junca on guitar; Santiago Prieto, who plays the charango, violin, and guitar; Adinda Meertins on double bass; Jairo Alfonso on winds (primarily saxophone and clarinet); Abstin Caviedes on trombone and bugle; Miguel Guerra on percussion; and Darwin Baez on drums.

The band, formed in 2008, mixes elements of cumbia, tango, danzón, bolero, and pop music. The ensemble was named best new artist of 2015 at the Latin Grammy Awards. The band’s debut album in 2012 won Colombia’s national gold album award.
