Join us for an interview with Kawan Prather, a.k.a. "KP the Great," who might be the music industry's version of professor Charles Xavier, leader of the X-Men.

Since beginning his career more than two decades ago, the A&R legend, producer, soundtrack curator, headlining DJ, and Grammy Award–winning songwriter has held executive positions at LaFace Records, Arista Records, Columbia Records, Sony Music, and Atlantic Records. Prather is head of music for i am OTHER, the multimedia creative collective established by Pharrell Williams.

His A&R credits include OutKast, P!nk, and Usher, and he is personally responsible for signing T.I., Killer Mike, John Legend, Yelawolf, and Kap G.

Behind the board with Malay, Prather coproduced Legend's song "Green Light," Fantasia's "The Thrill Is Gone," Jamie Foxx's "15 Minutes," and more. He also cowrote Kendrick Lamar's anthem "Alright" alongside Williams, for which he took home the 2016 Grammy for best rap song.

Additionally, Prather has cemented himself as one of the industry's most sought-after DJs.
