Open Improvisation Strategies and the Art of Saxophone Quartet

Description

The ensemble will focus on a new awareness of organizing one’s ideas in a spontaneous chamber ensemble (with no rhythm section) with an emphasis on sound/blend, extended techniques, rhythm and new music compositional approaches. The course will culminate with a concert at a Berklee recital/workshop or a venue to be determined where the materials and practices covered in the course will be put to action within the collective experience of the saxophone quartet.
