Andalusian singer, producer, arranger, and guitarist Diego Guerrero has released two Latin Grammy–nominated albums and is one of the worlds top references for the encounter of flamenco with other styles of music. His formal training in classical composition coupled with a childhood immersed in flamenco culture makes him one of the few people able to write, direct, and produce music from almost any ensemble in a distinctly flamenco style. Guerrero will be sharing some essential tools in how to approach the genre as an outsider and some of his experiences and collaborations with other artists throughout his career.

Guerrero will be accompanied by percussionist Nasrine Rahmani, who will explain and demonstrate the rhythmic structures of some of the characteristic “palos” with palmas and on the flamenco cajón.

This event is produced by Professor Olivia Pérez-Collellmir and the Berklee Performance Division.
