Kevin Baldwin is a visual artist, composer, and saxophonist who challenges artistic traditions through experimental techniques, technologies, and conceptual practices. As a saxophonist and composer, Baldwin uses extended techniques and non-traditional notation systems to create sonic experiences utilizing noise and microtonalities which range from highly structured to freely improvised. These experimentations bled into a visual practice in which the music notation itself became the material to challenge the concept that music could only be about sound and not for its visual aesthetic.

Baldwin has traveled and performed internationally as a saxophonist; the New York Times called one performance "precise and energetic." He has made a career championing modern saxophone and performance techniques. Baldwin has traveled and performed as a soloist and in ensembles internationally, including Canada, France, Italy, and China. He has performed with numerous ensembles, including Iktus+, Ensemble Mise-en, Hotel Elefant, Qubit, Tempus Continuum Ensemble, and Inverted Space. He commissions and premieres new works in solo and chamber settings.

As a composer, Baldwin has received commissions and several other premieres from ensembles and individuals such as Leanna Keith, Anne H. Goldberg-Baldwin, andPlay, loadbang, and Ensemble SurPlus. He has received awards and commissions, including at Akademie Schloss Solitude in Stuttgart, Germany, which culminated in the premiere of a new work for Ensemble SurPlus. In February 2023, Baldwin's debut commercial recording of his work "Broken Language" was released on Anne Goldberg-Baldwin's album Permutations.
