Scholarships

Apply for merit-based scholarships to the five-week program, specialized workshops, or the Arif Mardin Music Fellowship.

Please note: You must be registered for the program in order to be considered for a scholarship. Scholarship awards from Berklee cannot be combined; there is a maximum of one award per person per program. All scholarship decisions are final. If you have already received a scholarship decision from the scholarship application process, you are not eligible to be reconsidered by reapplying for a scholarship.

Five-Week Summer Performance Program Scholarship

Berklee offers a limited number of merit-based scholarships to the Five-Week Summer Performance Program. Generally, most scholarships awarded range from $1,000 to $3,000. A limited number of full tuition scholarships are available (housing not included), with preference given to students enrolled in high school or secondary school. There is no federal aid for this program.


Summer Sessions: Women’s Performance Program Scholarship

The Summer Sessions: Women’s Performance Program is a special intensive track for female musicians that addresses gender justice in the jazz community, and is included as part of the Berklee Five-Week Summer Performance Program. Led by Grammy Award–winning drummer Terri Lyne Carrington, this track emphasizes teaching, empowerment, mentorship, and advocacy for high school and college-level students who wish to pursue careers as professional musicians. Eight outstanding female instrumentalists will be selected by Carrington to study with her and other faculty. Participants will also have the opportunity to study with guest artists.


Rock Workshop Scholarship

Led by artistic director and veteran rocker Marty Walsh, the Rock Workshop gives students an opportunity to gain valuable insight into the world of rock music and performance while studying at Five-Week. Berklee seeks to recruit the most talented young rock instrumentalists and vocalists in the world for this workshop, which is a specialized program designed for students interested in studying and performing rock music at the highest level. Students collaborate to develop the band's musical identify, culminating in vocal-centric recordings and performances on campus.


Jazz Workshop Scholarship

Led by Grammy Award–winning drummer Terri Lyne Carrington and Rick Dimuzio, the Jazz Workshop gives students an opportunity to gain valuable insight into the world of jazz music and performance while studying at Five-Week. Berklee seeks to recruit the most talented young jazz students in the world for this workshop, which is a specialized program designed for students interested in studying and performing jazz at the highest level. Students will explore classic and modern jazz repertoire as well as students' original music, culminating with several public performances.


Arif Mardin Music Fellowship

In memory of Berklee alumnus Arif Mardin '61, the American Turkish Society donates funds to support one (1) fellowship for a student to attend the Five-Week Summer Performance Program. Only individuals of Turkish descent or nationality are eligible to apply. One student is selected for the Arif Mardin Music Fellowship through the scholarship application process. The scholarship covers full tuition, on-campus housing, and a meal plan.
