Bass extraordinaire and alumnus Abraham Laboriel Sr. '72 was the first visiting artist at Berklee College of Music's Valencia campus for the 2012-2013 academic year. Featured on more than 4,000 recordings with such artists as Sting and Bruce Springsteen, Laboriel spent two days with graduate and undergraduate students sharing his knowledge and experience about music and life. An inspirational force to students, he performed in the Berklee Yamaha All Stars concert on September 7. The concert came on the heels of the grand opening of Berklee in Valencia's first master's programs.

The concert also featured performances by Berklee in Valencia faculty including Mexican vibraphonist and composer Victor Mendoza, program director for the master’s in contemporary studio performance; Berklee alumnus and virtuoso piano instructor and composer Polo Orti; and vocalist and voice instructor Sole Giménez. Yamaha-endorsed musicians including drummers Xavi Reija, José Mena, and Yoel Páez, and guitarist Jorge Salan also appear at the concert.
