A Massachusetts native, the singer-songwriter, arranger, pianist, vocalist, and educator Eva Gertz holds a B.M. in contemporary writing and production from Berklee College of Music, class of 2015. As a student, she elevated her writing skills and stood out to her peers and teachers as a composer with a special knack for arranging, contributing arrangements to the college’s concerts of visiting artists like A.R. Rahman, Susana Baca, and Julio Iglesias. Upon graduating, she established herself in New York City as a freelance teacher, composer, and performer for over five years, working with some of Broadway’s highly regarded composers like Alex Lacamoire, Bill Elliot, Kurt Crowley, and Mary-Mitchell Campbell, to name a few.

As a performer, Gertz has entertained as a world-class singing pianist on Holland America cruise ships in Alaska and performed her original music around Manhattan with her band. She has been managing and producing her original music with enthusiasm, professionalism, and artistry, especially during the pandemic when creativity was a survival instinct for many artists. She has an album, several singles, and music videos under her belt, all noted for their lyrical relatability, beautiful arrangements, and whimsical charm. Her love for many art mediums (e.g., painting, dance, poetry, and sculpture) shows through in her creative, clever projects and collaborations.

In Their Own Words

"Here at Berklee, the thing that we can all bond on is music. Because of this, Berklee is a haven for us artists, but can also feel at times suffocating to the multifaceted people that we are. I was a student at Berklee, and I experienced the pressure to live and breathe only music for the four years I was there. I encourage students to embrace and honor non-music activities, and find other commonalities with peers as well; these other forms of expression and bonding with each other can fuel and inspire you as an artist."

"I am excited to learn more about my students, what inspires them and sets them apart."
