Anni Irish’s work focuses on the representation of bodies, queerness, contemporary art, and the social history of tattooing in America. Irish holds a B.F.A. from the School of the Museum of Fine Arts/Tufts University, an M.A. in gender and cultural studies from Simmons College, and an M.A. in performance studies from New York University, and is in progress on an M.A. from New York University in gender politics. Her work has appeared in various national publications including Salon, Teen Vogue, The Village Voice, Vice, and Cosmopolitan, among others. She has presented at numerous academic conferences, has been an adjunct faculty member at the School of Visual Arts in New York City, and has guest lectured at various colleges, universities, and institutions across the U.S. Irish was born and raised in Manchester, Connecticut, and resides in Brooklyn, New York.

Anni is a regular contributor to the Art Newspaper and the Observer, where she writes on art related topics. Over the last 14 months, she has covered the growing unionizing labor efforts in the art world and is currently researching a book project on this topic.
