Yoron Israel

Renowned drummer Yoron Israel will be performing with his jazz quartet, High Standards, featuring Lance Bryant on saxophone, Laszlo Gardony on piano, and Henry Lugo on bass. The quartet will perform selections from Israel’s latest recording, Visions: The Music of Stevie Wonder, which garnered critical acclaim as one of Jazz Week’s top 100 recordings of 2012.

The assistant chair of Berklee’s percussion department, Israel’s credentials include five recordings as a leader and hundreds of recordings as an accompanist. His 2004 release, Basic Traneing, reached number three on the national jazz charts.

When not performing with his own ensembles (in addition to High Standards, Israel leads the groups Organic and Connection), Israel performs regularly with bassist Avery Sharpe and vibraphonist Jay Hoggard as well as with numerous Boston-based artists, such as Gabrielle Goodman and the Makanda Project.
