Born into a world where rhythm was as natural as breath, Sameayah carries the weight and wonder of her Liberian heritage in every note. She began singing as soon as she could talk, naturally drawn to melody before she even understood its meaning. Raised in the church, she developed her voice in sanctuaries where music was more than just sound—it was healing, power, and spirit. That early foundation, shaped by gospel’s soul-stirring harmonies, was enriched by the vibrant polyrhythms of African music, reflecting a life immersed in culture.

As she expanded her artistry, Sameayah found inspiration in hip-hop’s raw storytelling, R&B’s velvet touch, and neo-soul’s introspective groove, blending these influences into a sound that is both modern and deeply personal.

Sameayah refined her craft through formal jazz training and later honed her skills at Berklee College of Music, but her true artistry lies in the stories she tells. Her music is a reflection of her experiences. Every lyric carries the weight of real emotion, capturing moments of vulnerability, resilience, and transformation.

With smooth vocal textures, rhythmic versatility, and a natural ability to fuse genres, Sameayah creates music that feels both intimate and expansive, inviting listeners into her world. Her artistry isn’t about fitting into a single genre; it’s about crafting moments that feel authentic and resonate on a deeper level.

Sameayah will be performing as part of Berklee’s Summer in the City 2025 concert series. View all concerts.
