Monique, known online as Niqisax, is a Boston-based saxophonist, flautist, and EWI (electronic wind instrument) player recognized for her soulful tone and dynamic improvisation. She recently graduated from Berklee College of Music, where she was awarded a full-tuition scholarship.
She has performed across the US and internationally, with notable appearances at the Telluride Jazz Festival, Jazz Education Network Conference, Abravanel Hall, Berklee Performance Center, and Radio City Music Hall. Monique has studied under the mentorship of George Garzone, Frank Tiberi, and Chase Baird, and has performed alongside acclaimed artists such as Brian Blade, Jazzmeia Horn, and Victor Wooten.
In recognition of her work with various ensembles, Monique has received multiple awards from DownBeat magazine as well as honors from Best of State. When she’s not performing, Monique teaches private students and works with schools to further jazz education and inspire the next generation of musicians.
