Beth Thomas ‘10 is an institutional real estate investor with a deep and diverse background in real estate investing and capital markets advisory. She also serves on nonprofit boards that align with her passion for the performing arts and athletics.

Thomas was a member of the founding team that formed Bain Capital’s real estate business in 2018, and served as a partner and sat on its investment committee until January 2023, when she became a senior advisor. As a team leader and mentor, she was responsible for creating real estate investment strategies, building customer-centric platforms, and driving performance.

From 2010 to 2018, she was a senior vice president and portfolio manager at Harvard Management Company, where she was responsible for implementing the real estate joint venture investment program that the team continued and built upon when it spun out to form Bain Capital Real Estate. Prior to joining Harvard Management Company, Thomas held senior roles with leading capital markets teams at Cushman & Wakefield, CBRE, and Jones Lang LaSalle, executing sales transactions through multiple cycles.

Music is a source of joy for Thomas. Throughout her life she has played piano, clarinet, and guitar and sung in choirs, ensembles, and rock bands. She claims that attending Berklee full-time in her 40s “were two of the best years of my life.”

As a Berklee trustee, Thomas chairs the campus planning committee and has served on the finance and audit committees. She is also a member of the board of directors for the Head of the Charles Regatta, the world’s largest rowing event, with over 12,000 athletes from around the world and 2,400 volunteers.

In addition to attending Berklee College of Music, where she majored in professional music as a vocal principal, Thomas holds an A.B. in economics from Harvard University and an M.B.A. from the University of Chicago’s Booth School of Business. She has two musical sons and resides in the Boston area with her husband Mac and dog Moose.
