Verification
Federal regulations require colleges to check the accuracy of the information submitted on the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). This process is referred to as Verification. The verification process must be completed before your student account can be credited with financial aid such as the Federal Pell Grant, Federal Supplement Grant, Federal Work/Study, Federal Perkins Loan, Federal Stafford Loan, and College funding. Please be aware that your financial aid may change once the verification process is complete.
Please do not complete these forms unless you have been instructed to do so.
You will be required to mail copies of Federal 1040 U.S. Tax Returns, W2s, and any other documents detailed on the verification worksheets. State Tax Returns are not acceptable and do not need to be sent.
Once you have submitted your FAFSA, you and your parents may need to send us additional information. Approximately one-third of students who apply for federal aid are selected for verification. There are several ways to monitor the status of your aid and all documents that have been requested and received by our office:
Once your application is complete, you will be sent an award letter with detailed summary of your financial aid package. Continuing and Returning Students will receive this document via email and on my.berklee.net. Entering students will receive a paper award letter in the mail.
International students who are currently attending Berklee are invited to apply for the Berklee International Grant (BIG).
A variety of factors are used to determine eligibility for this grant. In order to be considered, students must fill out a yearly Berklee International Grant Application. You will be asked to briefly discuss your accomplishments here at Berklee and your financial circumstances. The application is due each spring and can be downloaded from www.berklee.edu/forms.
Summer Aid for Continuing and Returning Students
Beginning in Summer 2011, students will need to file a new FASFA in order to receive aid for the summer. Please complete both the 2011-2012 FAFSA and the summer aid application found at Berklee.edu/forms in order to receive aid for the summer session.
