This year, Five-Week is meant to replicate a Berklee College of Music undergraduate experience in an online format.
As at the college, you will select one principal instrument (voice included) to study during the program. Your instructors will be Berklee's world-class faculty and visiting artists, supporting you in a combination of private instruction, instrumental or vocal labs, ensembles, theory, musicianship training, and electives. While classes are designed to challenge and expand your musical skill set, your course load will be appropriate for your abilities.
Students who do well in their core classes can now receive six college credits upon completion of the program.
Five-Week is a full-time program that consists of a rigorous courseload.
Your schedule will be entirely customized to your interests and abilities. You'll participate in 12–15 hours of required coursework per week, with opportunities to participate in supplemental events as well. Classes will meet regularly at defined times, and you are expected to attend each live class if you can. Recordings of all classes will be archived to accommodate students in different time zones or with schedule issues.
At Five-Week, you'll have regular performance opportunities through virtual ensembles to collaborate with students across the program and around the world. You'll progress towards perfecting your performance with weekly evaluation from a Berklee instructor before recording your contribution.
If you're interested in showcasing your performance skills, open mics will be hosted multiple times a week to offer more experience performing for an audience.
During the final week of the program, you will be featured in at least one performance in our final showcase of ensembles. You may appear in multiple performances if you participated in more than one ensemble.
All students 14 and older with six months of playing or singing experience are welcome to attend. Most students who attend this program are of high school and college age.
Students should have access to a computer with the latest version of Google Chrome, a webcam, speakers or headphones, an external or internal microphone, and a broadband internet connection.
Meghan Trainor, Charlie Puth, and Betty Who are among the many Five-Week alumni who have gone on to have successful music careers. Read more about our notable alumni.
