Berklee Commencement 2019
Saturday, May 11 at the Agganis Arena at Boston University
Commencement Processional Lineup
You will be given your call time (the time you need to arrive at the Agganis Arena on commencement day for processional lineup) in the bag you receive when you pick up your cap and gown. (Please see Caps and Gowns for more information.) Make sure to arrive at Agganis wearing all items in your bag: your cap, gown, hood, and colored button. Please note that no bags or coats will be allowed in the arena.
Make sure you arrive at your call time. If you are late, you will not be allowed to walk in the commencement ceremony. NO EXCEPTIONS.
You will be lined up in program order for the academic procession, which will begin at 9:45 a.m. It will proceed in two lines into the arena, and the formal ceremony will begin when all members of the platform party have reached the stage. When your name is called, you will walk across the stage to receive your diploma. Since final grades will not have been posted yet, actual diplomas are not distributed at the ceremony, but will be mailed out beginning the last week in June. For more information, see Getting Your Diploma.
Please note that honors status is documented on transcripts and your diploma but not in the ceremony program. This is because the program is printed before the vast majority of students in the program have completed all their courses. Some will be completing their courses during the week before the ceremony and there is not enough time to determine final honors. Others will be graduating in August or December. Honors cannot be determined until the Office of the Registrar has certified that all graduation requirements have been met. For more information on how honors are determined, see Requirements for Graduation, the Student Policy Handbook or check with the Office of the Registrar.
For Your Guests
Your guests will be admitted at 9:00 a.m., and the ceremony will begin at 9:45 a.m. You do not need an invitation, but your guests will need to bring their invitations with them in order to be admitted to the ceremony. Seats are not assigned; seating is available on a first-come, first-served basis.
An informal reception will be held directly after the ceremony (around 12:30 p.m.) All graduates, faculty, and guests are invited to attend. Please follow the posted signs to find the reception room.
The Agganis Arena offers special assistance to guests with disabilities. Graduates or their guests planning to attend any of the commencement events who may need special accommodations on the basis of disability should contact Donna Rose Desilus, Conference Services and Events, at 617-747-6168 or firstname.lastname@example.org by May 6. Guests are encouraged to provide as much advance notice as possible prior to the start of an event to help ensure that their request for special assistance may be met. A listing of services available at the Agganis Arena at Boston University can be found under Accessibility Services.
