Message from Search Committee Chair Marty Mannion

Dear members of the Berklee community,

Berklee Board of Trustees Chair Susan Whitehead’s recent note to you announced my role as chair of the Presidential Search Committee. I care deeply about this institution and its people, am committed to its long-term success, and am humbled by the opportunity to serve in this way.

My primary goal as chair will be to find the most qualified leader to continue Berklee’s evolution as the leading music and performing arts institution in the world. I will do this by conducting a process that is designed to ensure all members of our community have the opportunity to share their thoughts and suggestions, and to create numerous ways for us to hear about the qualities you seek in a new president. To start, we've created a webpage where you can submit information and ideas you wish to share with the committee.

To begin the search process, I am pleased to announce the members of the Presidential Search Committee. The committee will be responsible for engaging an executive search firm and contributing to a highly inclusive process. I am energized by the commitment, experience, and diverse perspectives these members bring to their work on the committee.

Presidential Search Committee Members

Over the next few weeks, we will be conducting interviews with search firms who have broad experience with executive searches in higher education in the arts, and so are capable of identifying a strong pool of candidates. Once in place, our search partner will begin to reach out to the Berklee community for ideas and insights, while developing a profile of leadership qualities that will inform the search process. We will keep you up to date as this progresses.

I have had the distinct pleasure of serving on the Berklee Board of Trustees for the past seven years, and am continually struck by the remarkable achievements of the institution under Roger’s inspired leadership.

I look forward to hearing from you as we progress in this important work.

Sincerely,

Marty Mannion
Chair, Presidential Search Committee, and Vice Chair, Berklee Board of Trustees
