Biography

Educator, award-winning theater artist, and arts advocate Scott Edmiston served as Boston Conservatory at Berklee's dean of theater from 2019 to 2022. Called “one of Boston’s finest directors” by the Boston Globe, he has directed more than 60 productions for theaters, universities, and opera companies across New England, including the American Repertory Theater, SpeakEasy Stage Company, Lyric Stage Company of Boston, Central Square Theater, and Huntington Theatre Company, where he was the artistic associate for seven years, among others. 

Six of his productions have received Boston’s Elliot Norton Award for Outstanding Production or Musical, including Constellations (2018), Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf? (2017), and My Fair Lady (2016). My Fair Lady was also named among the “best theater of 2015” nationwide by the Wall Street Journal. Edmiston has received numerous awards for his direction, the Distinguished Alumni Award from Penn State University, and the Elliot Norton Prize for Sustained Excellence. He previously served as a professor of the practice at Northeastern University, the inaugural director of the Office of the Arts at Brandeis University, and president of StageSource, the Greater Boston Theater Alliance.
