Larry Simpson is senior vice president for academic affairs and provost. In this role, he is responsible for Berklee’s three academic divisions (Professional Performance, Professional Writing and Music Technology, and Professional Education), institutional research and assessment, graduate studies, concert operations, special programs, the library and learning resources, experiential learning, and faculty development. He also serves as the executive producer for the Beantown Jazz Festival. He currently serves as the board chair of the New England Foundation for the Arts (NEFA). Prior to coming to Berklee, he served as president of the Eastern Campus (twelve years) and the Metropolitan Campus (one year) of the Cuyahoga Community College District in Cleveland, Ohio. He holds master of science and Ph.D. degrees in social psychology from the University of Pittsburgh.
