Biography

As assistant vice president for global program development, Betsie Becker is responsible for providing strategic, design, and operational leadership in global program development. Working closely with Maria Iturriaga, senior vice president, international learning environments, and executive director, Berklee Valencia, and Jason Camelio, assistant vice president for global initiatives, she is shaping the vision, design, execution, and operation of all current and future programs and educational activities that Global Initiatives is engaged in across the globe.  

Becker has been devoted to bringing enriching artistic expressions to audiences for nearly 20 years. Her passion for developing performing arts programs and supporting artists has been seen in such countries as Abu Dhabi, South Africa, Spain, Mexico, and India, among others, and across the United States. As managing director of global K–12 programs at the Juilliard School, she oversaw the development of a comprehensive K–12 performing arts curricula, of the associated teacher professional development training, and of robust visiting artist and summer intensive programs. Becker previously worked at Carnegie Hall as a founding administrator for Ensemble Connect, a two-year fellowship program between Carnegie Hall and Juilliard, and served as arts administrator for the Aspen Opera Theater with the Aspen Music Festival and School. She was also executive director of Decoda, the New York Citybased chamber ensemble. She has presented sessions at conferences including the International Baccalaureate Global Conference, the Association of Performing Arts Professionals in New York City, and the SXSW EDU Conference.
