In this episode of Sounds of Berklee, we’re featuring saxophonist, composer, and bandleader Tia Fuller, a professor in the Ensemble Department who has shared the stage with legends and released four albums as a solo artist. The list of those she has performed and/or recorded with is so long and stunning, it reads like a hall of fame directory, including artists such as Aretha Franklin, Chaka Kahn, Jay-Z, Janelle Monáe, Erykah Badu, and of course, Beyoncé; Fuller was a member of Queen Bey’s legendary, original all-female band.

As this year marks the 10th anniversary of that original Beyoncé band lineup, Fuller is directing the reunited group for a special concert on Thursday, March 2 at 8:00 p.m. at the Berklee Performance Center (BPC). Part of this spring semester’s Signature Series, the show will feature all of the original members, including Berklee alumnae Rie Tsuji B.M. '02 and Nikki Glaspie B.M. '05. The concert will also feature choreography by Boston Conservatory at Berklee students, led by alumna Ebony Williams B.F.A. '05, who is a current dancer for Beyoncé.

From Tia Fuller’s third album, Decisive Steps, here’s “Windsoar,” written by Shamie Royston and performed by the Tia Fuller Quartet.
