Boston Metro: Classroom on a Tour Bus: New Berklee Program Gives a Few Young Artists the Rock Star Treatment
May 4, 2016
The Boston Metro recently spoke with Jeff Dorenfeld, professor of music business, about his inspiration behind establishing the Berklee Popular Music Institute (BPMI), which has established a curriculum that pairs artists with business students and gets them exclusive placements at major international music festivals. Dorenfeld was quoted in the article saying, “Everyone is saying this isn’t reality. Well, it is for us. I’m trying to create something that they [the students] can realize they could aspire to.” Dorenfeld also talked about his goals for the institute and the work that it takes to go from the classroom to the festival stage.
