The Hollywood Reporter released its annual list of the world's Top 25 Music Schools featuring Berklee in the No. 2 position for the second straight year. In 2013, Berklee was in the top spot. The rankings are based on research conducted by the publication's editorial staff. The Hollywood Reporter team delved into schools' profiles, researching how each addresses career preparation and the success of alumni, particularly in the fields of film scoring, songwriting, and music business.

Kevin Kaska '94—orchestrator on The Dark Knight, Sherlock Holmes, and Madagascar series—told The Hollywood Reporter, "No other music school in the world could hold a candle to Berklee's dedication to film scoring, music synthesis, contemporary writing concepts, and music production and engineering."
