Before coming back to his alma mater to found the Berklee Institute of Creative Entrepreneurship, Panos Panay '94 built and ran an internationally successful start-up company for 13 years. In a recent article for Fast Company, Panay reflects on his journey, admitting that for a long time, he secretly viewed his creative background as a hurdle he had to overcome in the business world. Not until he sold his company did he come to see the opposite was true. As he says, "I came to realize that I succeeded as an entrepreneur not despite the fact that I had a music degree, but precisely because of it."
