From the lemonade stand to the CEO's chair, Diane Hessan offered her story and gave her advice on entrepreneurial success during November's Creative Entrepreneurs Lecture Series at Berklee.

November 20, 2014

Diane Hessan, founder of Comunispace and CEO of the Startup Institute, spoke with Berklee Institute of Creative Entrepreneurship (BerkleeICE) founding managing director Panos Panay as part of the Creative Entrepreneurs Lecture Series. The discussion included thoughts on the role of women in business and how to best create a desirable workspace culture in a new business. Hessan regaled those in attendance with stories of her childhood lemonade stand days on up to her work leading more than 500 employees and working with corporations with global reach.

Hessan noted that her latest venture, the Startup Institute, aims to give students real world skills for success and discussed how this is accomplished in response to questions about the role of entrepreneurial skills in students’ post-graduation success. Hessan is one of several high-profile entrepreneurial leaders participating in the Creative Entrepreneurs Lecture series, with future talks to come from R.E.M manager Bertis Downs and Bonnaroo festival cofounder Rich Goodstone.
