The Berklee Global Jazz Institute Will Perform at Dominican Republic Jazz Festival

The Berklee Global Jazz Institute will perform at the 17th annual Dominican Republic Jazz Festival on November 2.

The Berklee Global Jazz Institute announces its inclusion in the 17th annual Dominican Republic Jazz Festival.

Presented by the Dominican Ministries of Tourism and Culture, JetBlue, and businesses such as Millennium Resort and Spa, Sea Horse Ranch, Ron Macorix, Listin Diario, UltraVioleta, Casa Linda Residences, Banco del Progreso-American Express, the Municipality of Sosua, and Cibao Recycling, the 17th annual Dominican Republic Jazz Festival is a free, multiday festival held each year on the North Coast of the Dominican Republic, combining culture, entertainment, and music education, while featuring some of the world’s best Latin jazz groups and musicians.

The Berklee Global Jazz Institute (BGJI) will perform on Saturday, November 2 at 8:00 p.m., at Cabarete Beach. The ensemble features an international group of musicians from the BGJI including saxophonist Paul Eirik-Melhus from Glendale, Arizona; Roni Eytan from Israel on harmonica; Brazilian guitarist Leandro Pellegrino; bassist Chang Min Jun of South Korea; and drummer Hironori Suzuki from Hamamatsu-shi, Shizuoka. Also joining the BGJI ensemble will be BGJI managing director Marco Pignataro on saxophone and Peruvian percussionist Jorge Perez Albela. The BGJI will be performing a set of exciting, original music.

Also to perform at the Dominican Republic Jazz Festival is the BGJI managing director Marco Pignataro joined by legendary jazz saxophonist George Garzone, bassist Rufus Reid, drummer Billy Drummond, and flutist Matt Marvuglio. Marco Pignataro Trio Mas will perform on Sunday, November 3 at 8:00 p.m., at Cabarete Beach. The BGJI will also be hosting clinics and a concert at the Music Conservatory in Santo Domingo on October 29.
