Alumni Connect at the Cat & Fiddle

L.A.-area alumni and industry luminaries join for dinner, drinks, and camaraderie.

June 24, 2013

On Tuesday, June 11, approximately 150 Berklee alumni and friends gathered for a Green Room networking event at the Cat & Fiddle in Hollywood, California, to connect and welcome new graduates. Grammy winners Brian Vibberts '91 and Gavin Lurssen '91 joined four-time Emmy-winning composer Laura Karpman in welcoming 20 members of the first class to graduate from Berklee’s Valencia-based film scoring master's program. The event was hosted by assistant director of Alumni Affairs Justine Taormino, who was accompanied by Peter Gordon, director of the Berklee Center in L.A.

Taormino also announced the launch of Play it Forward, a fundraising drive that aims to increase the number of donations from Los Angeles-area Berklee alumni, regardless of amount.  This is the first event at which donations have been solicited, and the crowd responded with enthusiasm. Alumna Tangelene Bolton ’13 praised the atmosphere and the food, and Valencia master’s degree candidate Tanja Utunen said, “It was a blast.”

The Green Room networking events happen three times a year—in September, March, and June—and regularly attract well over 100 attendees.  Contact Justine Taormino for details on the next one.
