The collaboration with the world´s largest private University of modern music will become a great incentive for the Festival´s composition workshops and for freshman composers.

The International Film Music Festival 'Provincia de Córdoba' has sealed a partnership agreement with the prestigious Berklee College of Music, world´s largest private University of contemporary music, where film composers such as Alan Silvestri, Howard Shore and Quincy Jones once studied, and whose alumni have obtained over the years more than 270 Grammys. The cited Bostonian University is key in the development of music in recent decades. It has also a close relationship with the film industry, and has become a key reference for faculty, and especially for students who become part of the institution, given the required level of preparation and the prestige this entails.

The signing of this agreement represents an unprecedented support to the Festival of Córdoba. Berklee was specially enthusiastic about our Festival´s teaching opportunities and the audiovisual projection offered.

Berklee therefore requires the organizers of this Cordoba event to be aware of the importance of the presence of professionals, teachers and musicians from this Boston-based University. Founded in 1945, in recent years Berklee has added to its curriculum newer courses such as electronic music, scoring for film, television and video games, which has attracted thousands of students from across the world, who need to go through a very thorough admissions process.

In fact, Berklee College of Music has the highest percentage of foreign students, representing more than 90 countries. The five countries that are more represented are are Korea, Japan, Mexico, Canada and Italy. Due to this, the International Film Music Festival 'Provincia de Córdoba' plans to put Berklee’s faculty expertise at the service of students of our well-known composition workshops. It will also be key to establish guidelines for the freshman composers participating at our Festival´s 'Jerry Goldsmith' Awards, devoted mainly to acknowledge the work of those musicians who are getting started in the audiovisual field (cinema, television, advertising or other means) and those who, despite having a successful career, have not gained the deserved recognition. Those interested in knowing more details of the remarkable benefits of this liaison with Berklee may soon obtain further information on the festival's website, 'www.filmmusicfestival.org.'.

Spain is very present in the curriculum of this prestigious institution, since in January of 2012 Berklee opened in Valencia its first international campus outside Boston. Now, in addition, there is this active participation with the Festival 'Provincia de Córdoba', among many other initiatives launched from their campus in Valencia, located at the Palau de les Arts Reina Sofía, which will also facilitate the exchange of students and future joint projects.
