Daniel Woods came to Berklee by way of Chicago, where he grew up as one of six kids in a close-knit family, played piano for his church and toured with his high school gospel choir. After getting used to the faster pace of Boston, Woods has come to find another kind of family here at Berklee. He’s connected with teachers who have helped him to break open and hone his songwriting chops. A professional music major, Woods—who counts Donny Hathaway, Marvin Gaye, D’Angelo, and Jeff Buckley among his influences—is getting a taste of a variety of disciplines here as he prepares to put out an EP and forge a career in the industry. He will perform June 13 as part of the Berklee Summer in the City series.
