USA Today tackled the issue of the music industry's job saturation recently, speaking with Panos Panay, founding managing director of BerkleeICE, and Joseph Polisi, president of Juilliard. High numbers of music graduates combined with an increasingly leaner music industry has resulted in a very competitive market for job seeking musicians. However, now more than ever a musician's fate is in his/her own hands and that is something to be cherished.

"There's a demand placed upon creative people to think and act entrepreneurially," Panay told Matthew Danneman of USA Today. "The market at large necessitates a mindset of 'It's not about getting a job, it's about creating a job.'" It is this mindset that BerkleeICE strives to nurture in Berklee musicians before they enter the music industry: giving graduates the tools to succeed in the current 'do it yourself' climate.
