Technofiles: Music, Technology, and the Entrepreneur

Creative entrepreneurs at the heart of radically reimagining the music industry discuss the intersection of music, technology and entrepreneurship at the Technofiles series with the Library of Congress.

April 8, 2015
In a video produced at the Library of Congress, BerkleeICE's Panos Panay moderates a panel that explores the questions and challenges that exist at the intersection of creativity, technology, and business. How can musicians embrace the most recent technological advances to help the industry boom? Can it really be a bad thing that at any moment each one of us can access music at the click of a button from our phones?

As part of the discussion, Panay asked the panelists, “what is it about the environment of the industry right now that has made people so freaked out about the impact of technology rather than optimistic?" He continued by saying that after all, "looking at the music industry, it is the one industry that has consistently benefitted from technology. It has fought and then embraced [it].”

In addition to Panay, the featured panelists included:
  • Casey Rae, musician, recording engineer, educator, and journalist
  • Emilien Moyon, Program Director, Berklee Valencia, Spain Campus; Cofounder, the Business Model Community
  • David Dufresne, Founder, Bandzoogle
  • Ethan Schiff, Cofounder and CEO, New Torch Entertainment
  • Nick Susi, Chief Creative Officer, New Torch Entertainment
