On Thursdays through August 29, Berklee College of Music students bring their jazz talents to the free outdoor summer concert series Plaza Jazz at the Lucius Beebe Memorial Library. Jazz pianist and composer Matt Savage, who has jammed with some of the biggest names in jazz including the Ellington All Stars, Chaka Khan, Wynton Marsalis, and Chick Corea, kicks off the series on Thursday, July 25, at 6:00 p.m. Located at 345 Main Street in Wakefield, the Lucius Beebe Memorial Library will feature the free concerts on the library’s front plaza. The concert is part of Berklee Summer in the City, presented by Natixis Global Asset Management.

Savage graduated from Berklee in December 2012. His ambitious tenth album, A Bigger Celebration, consisting entirely of original compositions, features Jerry Bergonzi, Bruce Gertz, Richie Barshay, and Mark Zaleski. He has performed on Late Night with Conan O'Brien, the Late Show with David Letterman, the Today show, and NPR's Piano Jazz with Marian McPartland. He has also been awarded several ASCAP Young Jazz Composer awards.

Outdoor performances at the Lucius Beebe Memorial Library continue through Thursday, August 29, with Berklee students performing a mix of jazz styles:

Thursday, August 1 - Milad & Eren (jazz folk fusion band)

Thursday, August 8 - Giorgi Mikadze (jazz pianist and composer)
