Pablo Munguía is one of the few people who both works for the Emmys and wins them. As a sound engineer for this show and many of its cousins—the Oscars, the Grammys, the American Music Awards, the Billboard Music Awards—as well as other high-profile music events on television, including the Super Bowl halftime performance and American Idol, Munguía has been nominated for 22 Emmys and won six.

A year and a half ago, he added another high-profile gig to his resumé: he became the director of Berklee’s Music Production, Technology, and Innovation master’s degree program in Valencia, Spain. It’s a program he says is shaping the future of music by teaching students not just today's techonolgy, but how to learn tomorrow's.

"One of the things that got me really excited to take over the program was seeing what the students were developing on their own," he says.

In this episode of Sound of Berklee, Munguía talks about the range of projects students are working on, how he helps students push the frontiers of music and technology, and about reuniting with Justin Timberlake for this February’s Super Bowl halftime show.
