Berklee alumnus Nate Morton '94 has been the drummer in the house band for NBC's hit TV show The Voice since it first aired in 2011. He's also appeared on the Rock Star: Supernova and Rock Star: INXS reality shows, toured nationally in the American Idol band, and shared the stage with Cher, Natalie Cole, Paul Stanley of Kiss, and Chaka Khan.

On the eve of the tenth season of
The Voice, for which he has also recorded hundreds of singles that together surpassed 20 million downloads via iTunes, Morton visited his alma mater to conduct a master class with students and to share his story with Alumni Affairs.

"It is at once humbling and gratifying to have the opportunity two decades post-grad to come back here and talk to students two generations younger," Morton said. "The further I get from Berklee, the further experience, the further my appreciation for it. I wish I could re-enroll in Berklee as a freshman, knowing what I know now. I would simply encourage students to really take advantage of what an amazing opportunity the school provides."

Listen to our conversation with Morton via the Sounds of Berklee podcast and hear his drumming on the tenth season of NBC's The Voice now airing.
