Alumnus Bryan Grone '08 has the sort of job that most new Berklee graduates would envy. As an original content producer for Spotify, he spends the bulk of his time curating and producing video and audio content that you can't find anywhere else. One recent assignment found Grone producing a live session with D'Angelo and the Vanguard.

"It is now, still, the only officially released live recordings from Black Messiah. They're truly incredible," he said.

Grone was on campus to meet with students of Jeff Dorenfeld, professor of music business and founding managing director of the Berklee Popular Music Institute. He was excited about the opportunity to tell current students about his career, which got a boost when he landed a Berklee student internship with Warner Music Group in 2007. He graduated one year later with a bachelor's in music business/management.

During our conversation, Grone spoke about his work and goals, touching on how Spotify aims to support and promote artists and connect them with fans. Spotify is one of the companies working with the Berklee Institute for Creative Entrepreneurship and others on the Open Music Initiative, an effort to simplify the way that music creators and rights owners are identified and compensated.
