Panos Panay was selected by the Boston Globe to be featured in their Game Changers 2017 list due to his work cofounding the Open Music Initiative (OMI) with Context Lab's Dan Harple and IDEO's Michael Hendrix. The OMI plans to publish its first application programing interface (API), software code, and permissions this summer, Curt Woodward from the Boston Globe reports.

The article highlights OMI's goal to enable industry interoperability by allowing companies to "plug their digital products into the larger system" without mandating the fees, creating better conditions for creators. If successful, this API will help content creators monitor their payments in order to ensure that they're getting paid according to their agreements.
