Chinese Music Industry’s Biggest Names Visit Berklee December 2-5

Senior executives from Baidu Music, China Music World, Modern Sky Entertainment, NetEase Music, Sony/ATV Music Publishing China, Universal Music China, and many more will meet with Berklee students and faculty to explore differences and similarities between the Chinese and U.S. music industries and to identify new opportunities for collaboration.

December’s Chinese Music Industry Meets Berklee event will bring together top executives and artists from China’s rapidly growing music market for a cross-cultural exchange of ideas with students and faculty at Berklee College of Music.

Senior executives from leading companies will participate in panels that explore key differences and similarities between the Chinese and U.S. music industries and identify new opportunities for collaboration. Topics covered will include differences in copyright laws, festivals and touring, business models for record labels, new media and technology platforms, the rise of C-Pop, and more. Speakers and panelists include Ding Bo, vice president of NetEase Cloud Music; Steven Fock, chief executive officer of China Music World (Group) Limited; Shan Hua, managing director of Sony/ATV Music Publishing China; Lei Wang, general manager of Baidu Music; Lihui Shen, founder of Modern Sky Entertainment; Danyang "Danny Sim" Shen, senior executive director of music and brand for Universal Music China; and many more.

The closing ceremony on Tuesday, December 5 at 8:00 p.m. will feature guest artists Geyang Xu, Yuan Tian, and Zheng Wang performing alongside Berklee vocalists and alumni​​ from China, such as recent Berklee graduate and rising star Jiayun "Leo" Yu. The concert is $8 in advance ($12 day-of-show) and takes place at the Berklee Performance Center, located at 136 Massachusetts Avenue in Boston. 

The event is presented by Berklee’s Chinese Music Industry Club and Chinese Students and Scholars Association, in collaboration with the Recording Artists Project (RAP) at Harvard Law School.
